A Quick Guide to Arthroscopy

Arthroscopy is a surgical technique that is used for the diagnosis and treatment of musculoskeletal problems, especially those involving the joint. Arthroscopy is different from conventional surgeries as it requires smaller incisions to look into the joint and treat the problem. Special orthopedic implants are used during arthroscopy and are different from the ones used in conventional orthopedic surgery i.e., ORIF.

In this post, we will have a brief look at arthroscopy along with the technique and its uses. Let us start with a brief introduction to arthroscopy.

What is Arthroscopy?

Also known as minimally invasive surgery, arthroscopy is a surgery that is used for diagnosing and treating joint ailments. The technique uses an arthroscope that contains a tiny camera. It is inserted into the affected joint after making a small incision. The camera shows clear visuals of the joint on a big screen and helps the orthopedic specialist diagnose the problem.

When it comes to the treatment, another small incision is required and will be used to insert miniaturized tools & equipment. The whole procedure will be carried out under anesthesia. Read More.
